Barry Lyndon

Ireland, 1750s. Barry Lyndon (Ryan O'Neal) is a penniless rogue determined to claw his way up through seduction and deceit. After years of scheming across Europe, he marries Lady Lyndon (Marisa Berenson), a wealthy widow, and gains access to her great estate and her late husband's name. Kubrick frames each room and garden like a painting hung in a gallery, but Barry's position rests on nothing but his wife's fortune and her willingness to keep him.
