Three chipmunks with a gift for singing lose their forest home and end up in the apartment of Dave Seville (Jason Lee), a struggling songwriter. Dave introduces them to Ian Hawke (David Cross), a ruthless record executive whose interest in the chipmunks comes with strings attached. As the brothers rise from nothing to stardom, everything that matters to them, their friendship with Dave, their bond with each other, stands to be torn apart.
