“In space no one can hear you scream.”

Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) works the night shift on the Nostromo, a commercial hauler in deep space with a seven-person crew. The ship's computer wakes them to investigate a distress signal from a nearby planetoid, and Dallas (Tom Skerritt) leads a small team to the derelict vessel. What comes back with them is a creature that hunts through the ship's corridors, killing methodically while the crew shrinks, trapped in a tin can with no way out.
