“Every moment is another chance.”

Jimmy Smith Jr. (Eminem) works a dead-end factory job in Detroit, living in a trailer with his mother Stephanie (Kim Basinger) and dreaming of making it as a rapper. He has a shot at the Shelter, a local hip-hop battle club where the best freestyle artists compete, but he chokes when it matters. As he works toward another chance, Jimmy has to find his voice and overcome the doubt that silences him on stage.
