Mike Enslin (John Cusack) writes debunking books about haunted locations, and he's certain room 1408 in the Overlook Hotel is just another con. Gerald Olin (Samuel L. Jackson), the hotel manager, warns him off with a quiet dread that only sharpens his resolve. Once inside, the room begins to close in on him, and everything he sees pulls him deeper into a place where his dead daughter Katie (Jasmine Jessica Anthony) is waiting.
